As a current Supervisor, I take my direction from the community. I want to make sure I align with what residents are looking for in the township. Below are my top 5 priorities that I want to continue to address this year and beyond. This is a high-level view and is a living document which is influenced by the direction of our residents.
- Cost Control – This includes maintaining proper spending, ensuring every penny we spend is accounted for and a necessary expense. This will help maintain tax levels, as I promised never to vote to increase taxes unless absolutely necessary. I constantly look for alternative ways to fund projects such as grant opportunities and investments. Through proper planning and looking ahead to future needs, we can soften the blow of additional expenses and keep them to a minimum.
- Growth Management – This includes all aspects of new developments including warehouses and open space. Keeping Forks the place we all have come to love and avoiding overdevelopment which will strain our resources. I will continue to leverage our zoning ordinances and hold developers to our rules. I will not let developers steamroll our township and destroy our future.
- Recreation – I know everyone is looking for more things to do outdoors. Making the town center a place to spend a day has always been a goal of mine. I have a list of possible items based on prior feedback ranging from dog parks, swimming pool, splash pad, pickleball, ball fields, basketball courts… As we move forward, I commit to continue our ability to offer outdoor recreation to our community. As I push to explore new recreational areas, I will be sure to involve each and everyone of our residents through community round tables, committees and more.
- Roads – Repairs, truck traffic, speeding, speeding, speeding… Many of our main roads are owned by PennDOT so we cannot do too much without their approval. It is a struggle to get them out here, but we continue to push for improvements from them. In regards to new developments, I will continue to ensure our roads are protected through traffic impact fees and stronger enforcement of our ordinances.
- Flooding – With every change to our land we need to commit to improving and correcting flooding issues. Flooding sources need to be identified and improved as they can affect areas well beyond the immediate landscape.
